🌊 Pavan Sarovar
Pavan Sarovar (also spelled Pawan Sarovar) is one of the most sacred kunds (holy ponds) in Nandgaon, in the Braj region of Uttar Pradesh, India. The word “Pavan” means pure or sacred, and devotees believe that this sarovar purifies the heart and mind.
It is closely connected with the childhood pastimes of Lord Krishna.
📜 Historical & Spiritual Significance
According to Braj tradition:
When Nanda Maharaj shifted from Gokul to Nandgaon for safety, this sarovar became the main water source for the village.
Krishna and Balaram are believed to have bathed and played here.
The cowherd boys (gopas) and cows would also gather near this sarovar.
Because of Krishna’s divine touch, the water is considered spiritually purifying.
Many saints and devotees sit near the ghats to chant and meditate.
