Govinda Kund is deeply connected with the Govardhan Leela of Lord Krishna.
According to scriptures:
After Lord Krishna lifted Govardhan Hill to protect the residents of Braj from heavy rains sent by Indra,
King Indra realized his mistake and felt ashamed.
Indra, along with Surabhi (the divine cow), came to Govardhan to perform the abhishek (ceremonial bathing)
